Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a structured, evidence-based psychotherapy developed by Marsha M. Linehan. It was originally designed to support individuals who experience intense emotions and difficulties with emotional regulation, and has since been adapted for a range of mental health concerns.
DBT focuses on building practical skills across four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. It emphasises the balance between acceptance and change — helping individuals develop greater understanding of their experiences while also learning strategies to manage emotions, cope with distress, and improve relationships.
DBT is commonly used in the treatment of mood disorders, personality disorders, and difficulties involving emotional dysregulation, with strong evidence supporting its effectiveness.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that helps individuals develop psychological flexibility—being able to respond effectively to difficult thoughts and feelings rather than being dominated by them. Developed within the behavioural tradition, ACT focuses on accepting internal experiences while committing to actions aligned with personal values.
Rather than aiming to eliminate distress, ACT supports individuals to relate differently to thoughts and emotions through processes such as mindfulness, acceptance, and cognitive defusion, while building meaningful, values-based action in daily life.
ACT is widely used for anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and stress-related difficulties
